Currently, the top routers under $300-$500 are impressive in terms of range, stability, and security. Everyone I check—Netgear, ASUS, Sinology—says they’re not reliable. I’m considering the Asus AC3100 and Synology RT2600ac right now.

Choose an access point instead of a router; connect it using the method Ubiquiti likely recommends

You didn't specify the details about your router model. It's from 2014 and a Linksys E4200.

You might simply disable the wireless component and employ it as a switch for the access point.

The issue might be caused by the Wi-Fi extender, not just the access point itself.

It's not about upgrading to a new router, but about handling two outdated devices together. Using them side by side can be just as effective as switching to a modern setup.

For expanding your Wi-Fi coverage, adding a repeater or extender is a simple solution.

Consumer routers are essentially poor choices when you compare them to using a dedicated access point like an Ubiquiti device.

The connection point stays smooth even with the 5-year-old device handling traffic.

Unless you possess a gigabit or higher connection, chances are low
