I'm considering assembling an APU desktop with a Ryzen 5600G and an ASRock B550M-HDV. My concern isn't limited to this chipset, since the B550 boards were released before the Ryzen 5000 lineup and even before the 5000G series. I require a motherboard with BIOS version 1.70, which was launched on March 5, 2021. Will the new BIOS versions be available when buying from Amazon? In-store purchases aren't feasible here, except for this advantage. Since we don't have many computer shops nearby in Switzerland, what BIOS age should I anticipate for a purchase? Thanks for your assistance! P.S.: I understand that 12th generation Intel is preferable over the B660 models. This PC is also intended for my grandfather, who doesn<|pad|>'s needs for GPU power.

Amazon's offerings can be unpredictable. The motherboard might arrive with the newest BIOS, but it could have been stored in a distant warehouse. Sharing a 3000 series CPU with someone can help you update the BIOS yourself. Some users have successfully booted B550 boards using older CPUs, though this isn't always reliable. Brands like MSI and Gigabyte offer boards with BIOS flashback capabilities, allowing updates even without a CPU.

Ensure the stock is recent and newly produced. Reach out to the seller via Amazon prior to ordering to confirm details. They should be aware of any BIOS updates for the boards or their receipt date. Many new items lack updates for models like the 5600G or 5700G, so look for a BIOS flash button and USB port to update the motherboard without a CPU installed. Otherwise, contact the seller first or bring a compatible CPU to perform the update.
