Current pricing details for new Intel CPUs
You're checking the current market for the i3-10100, which is listed near $122 but often drops to about $140. It seems supply issues are keeping prices stable. Prices might stay around that range for a while unless demand shifts. If you need it soon, buying now could be better than waiting.
I'm searching for a CPU that supports fast synchronization for your NAS setup, and I also managed to secure a motherboard.
Upon closer inspection, the listed cost corresponds to a bulk order from Intel's distributors, not the retail price for end users. A markup is always present. I'm observing a consistent price of around $130 for that CPU on Newegg, which has remained stable so far—so I anticipate it will stay similar for some time.
They could be uncertain, but it's hard to be sure. The PSU and motherboard aspects are gradually showing signs of improvement. That was a good decision, I didn't realize it at the time.
122 represents a 1KU rate. The actual cost ranges from $130 to $140. It’s hard to realize just how much more expensive things can be when we’re not paying the right amount. Offering similar deals at a third of the usual price makes it easier to remember the value.
You noticed the item was listed at $122 previously, which is reasonable given past trends.
For playing devil's advocate, the 3300X is only marginally cheaper and doesn't include an iGPU. In contrast, Zen 2 APUs would render i3s nearly useless for tasks comparable to OP's setup, though those aren't available yet. Actually, OP requires Quick Sync, but that's all. It depends on what you need. If it’s something you can use right away and the price is around $140, it might be a good deal. Otherwise, checking Newegg could save you time if they have better stock.
