Updated for Windows 10 but removed after three days. (It's terrible! Constant freezing, random restarts, and low frame rates in games.)

I switched to Windows 10 Pro, disabled many privacy settings, and I only use Cortana for searching. I don’t have a microphone permanently connected to my desktop since it’s used across four different setups.

I haven't seen a clear distinction between 8.1 and ten. The only exception is when 10 appears, which occasionally causes the taskbar to remain above fullscreen apps.

I currently run Windows 10 on my main machine, but there are several issues I've noticed. Many of them stem from unnecessary software bundled with Windows 10 that can't be removed, plus the System Settings section that has a lot of controls moved there. There are also concerns about privacy—rumors suggest it tracks keystrokes, monitors your webcam, listens to your microphone, and sends all that data to Microsoft. Additionally, Windows Explorer has had problems freezing on both Windows 8 and 10, so it still exists but doesn't function smoothly. It often requires restarting Task Manager to fix.

I haven’t upgraded yet. I’ll upgrade my mother’s old laptop eventually (it needs cleaning anyway), just to try it out. If it works, I’ll upgrade all my computers to Windows 10. I doubt I’ll use Cortana much, and I think the search bar looks clunky.

I'm using Windows 10 on all my PCs now and I really enjoy it. It performs well and quickly for me. The Edge browser requires some updates though.

The search bar in the task area can be transformed into a button.

Running only the main rig with Cortana disabled. Will keep using Win7 Ultimate on my M11X for a while.

I won't make any updates for at least nine months; the issues aren't worth it. I'm ready to wait until the new software release is complete, and additional options for stopping M$ spying will emerge.
