I visited my PC today to complete some tasks and opened Chrome. It told me I wasn’t connected to the internet. After troubleshooting, it mentioned I didn’t have an IP address, so I added one for my network, but it still doesn’t work. Anyone know what’s going on?

When linked to a router such as your ISP's device, it should typically obtain an IP address and network configurations from the router's DHCP server. If you input an IP manually, ensure it aligns with your network settings. To access the internet, you must also configure a DNS server—like those provided by your ISP (e.g., 9.9.9.9, 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 or 1.1.1.1).

He made the same point. When you input your personal IP, double-check the subnet mask and ensure it fits the default gateway range. Also, pick a DNS server yourself.

Disconnect all network equipment from power for roughly two minutes, then reconnect beginning with the modem/gateway, allowing a few minutes for full startup, after which your router/switch should come online. Restart your computer and verify connection.
