Current CPU temperature reading
hello, your i7-8700 cafe Lake CPU is running hot during gaming, reaching up to 90 degrees. you're using an Intel fan with an Etek case featuring front fans and a rear fan. the motherboard is ASRock B360M HDV and you have a 2070 RTX GPU. performance is still solid, but temperatures are a concern.
More surface area on a bigger cooler can fully cure IntelStockHeatsink issues. You’ll find $20 tower coolers that work, but for a more powerful setup look below. Check out these links: https://graphicscardhub.com/budget-cpu-cooler/ and https://www.pcpartguide.com/best-cpu-coolers-under-50/. It’s easy to spot better options with temps around 60-80°C depending on your needs.
I considered installing a water cooling system, which would cost around $50 to $70. I think it’s worth it if it makes sense for me. Thanks for the advice!
Using a HyperX 212 or any similar model works fine; an AIO would also be suitable. If you're unsure about an AIO or a full loop, an AIO would perform well.
At every price point, air cooling is better than water cooling. You wouldn’t need expensive radiators priced around seventy dollars unless you were aiming for top performance—otherwise, a more affordable tower cooler around thirty dollars would work just fine.
