I recently bought a Gigabyte RX 9060 XT OC with 16 GB GPU and plan to build a new setup. I'm wondering if I can use the 9060 in my existing build while ordering parts for a fresh configuration. My current system includes:

- Intel i7 8700K
- ASUS ROG Strix Z370 E Gaming motherboard
- 32GB DDR4 RAM
- Samsung 49" ultrawide 1080p 120Hz display

I only do simracing games like Iracing, AMS2, Le Mans Ultimate, etc.

Thank you for your message. I'm currently working but will review the PSU later. I just updated the BIOS for my motherboard. The GPU I have is an EVGA 1080 FTW Hybrid.

Yes, you can put the card into the existing setup. It uses about the same power consumption.

My suspicion is that your concern might be related to a CPU bottleneck. I understand the term can be thrown around a lot. My current GPU is an EVGA 1080 FTW Hybrid. The system performs reasonably well overall, but it has trouble with newer games such as Automobilista 2 and Le Mans Ultimate.

GTX 1080 performance is comparable to an RX6600, with similar raw output at 8700K. It offers six cores and 12 threads, aligning well with an i5-10400 or similar. While not exceptional, it provides solid GPU power. FPS changes may be minor in certain games, but higher settings can still be accessed. Upgrading later won't affect your current setup much.

Thank you for the details. I'm more comfortable with AMD systems. My goal is to eventually transfer this card to that platform in a fresh build, while still using it temporarily in the meantime.

It looks like you're generally satisfied, though there might be some room for improvement. You expect a significant boost in performance from your GTX 1080.
