You’re installing a new SSD with a clean Windows setup while keeping your existing Windows installed. First, back up important data. Then, format the old drive using the SSD’s tools, wipe it securely, and reinstall Windows on the new drive. After that, you can switch to SSHD for storage.

Using the software that comes with the SSD, you can move all your data onto it, even the operating system.

Save your files, power down the machine, use an SSD attachment via USB or DVD, launch Windows and boot into recovery settings. Perform a clean installation of the old drive. P.S. Lack of familiarity with software or hardware isn’t a shame—this community exists to assist!

Is this another method for formatting a drive? You're looking to prepare the drive without installing an operating system. Would it be possible to attach the Windows Installer, format the drive, and then cancel the installation step? Or is there another approach you're considering? Thanks ahead! @TS, feel free to ask on your thread. Hehe.

You could try it, but the simplest method is to open MyComputer, right-click, and select format.

Sure, I can handle that. Lol. I'm pretty clueless sometimes.
