Curious about whether to prioritize upgrading the CPU or GPU next?
You currently own a 4-Core i5-6402P with 2.8GHz base speed and a GeForce GTX960. Both perform similarly during gaming, but I’m unsure which one is actually limiting the other. As someone new to PC technology, I’d appreciate any advice on optimization for games like ARK or future recommendations.
Upgrade your CPU, and your FPS will significantly improve with that 960 card. It's a decent option for 1080p gaming at medium to high settings, delivering around 60fps on most AAA games. If you switch your GPU first, your CPU might struggle and the frame rate will drop sharply. Good 🤞
Which matters more to you is achieving a higher frame rate or increasing game settings and resolution.
It's a decision for the present moment, so it's only a short-term fix, but I'm aiming for the better half right now, lol. And honestly, I think my CPU reaches 100% more often than the GPU, which is why I'm leaning that way, though I'm not entirely sure if that's solid.

Ark poses challenges for your hardware setup. It puts a strain on both your GPU and CPU. I advise having at least a GTX 1650 Ti and a more powerful CPU if possible. A Ryzen 3 3100 would also be significantly better, and you'll gain the ability to upgrade as well. Still, the game remains demanding but should perform better.
