CTE in Battlefield 4 now runs at 60Hz ticks!
In today’s release (developed together with the Hardline netcode group), we’ve introduced frame-rate driven updates for bullets. This ensures your client’s performance matches the server’s rate—adjusting accordingly. For instance, if your game runs at 60fps, you’ll receive bullet updates at 60Hz instead of the previous 30Hz. These adjustments are expected to greatly enhance the out-of-region burst performance, and we’re keeping a close eye on it. Players who pay attention will notice that the server update frequency hasn’t changed; this is the next phase once reliability is confirmed.
We’ve made specific updates in this patch: Night Vision improvements target night-vision evasion tactics—flares, lights, lasers, and thermal grenades are now more disruptive. Flashlights create wider blinding zones, lasers extend their reach further, and thermal smoke plus IR fumes obscure heat signatures. A bug has been fixed that makes smoke, dust, and fog more visible through night vision scopes. The black ring around the lenses has also been removed, widening the viewing angle while intensifying the blinding effect. Feedback is welcome on the official discussion thread.
