I experienced the same problem too. Verify the video settings and ensure triple buffering is activated. Csgo is designed to be lightweight, allowing cards to achieve over 200 fps while monitors struggle. You might also try enabling g sync to help control monitor refresh rates and further smooth the display.

It might happen you hit a CPU limitation at such high frame rates, leading to stuttering. Consider limiting frames around 144.

CPU???? If the i7 4790k is causing issues with CSGO, I'm out of it.

It might be related to a driver problem. Ensure all your drivers are stable and up-to-date, including sound drivers. I’ve experienced stuttering on my laptop due to sound drivers. CS:GO relies heavily on CPU performance, so even a mid-range GPU like your GTX970 shouldn’t limit FPS much. With a 4790k, your CPU likely has enough power for high FPS. Check if any background software is causing interference. Edit: Verify multicore rendering is enabled in the CS:GO video settings. Also, confirm your temperatures are normal—overheating could cause throttling. Edited September 17, 2016 by elpiop | Added info

I don’t see any issues with the temperatures. I’m wondering if there’s a tool available to track sudden changes in CPU or GPU usage. I think it could be related to the storage medium—maybe switching from SSD to HDD would help. I’m planning to move it now and check the results.
