In general, some folks criticize the CSGO community as toxic, and now you're offering support to help them—great effort!
I care little about what others do, except when it impacts me.
It's frustrating when toxic players ruin the experience for everyone else. The typical player age seems to be around 12, and they treat any feedback like a personal attack. SJWs seem to focus only on condemning smurfing, acting as if owning more than two accounts makes you bad. Smurfs aren't the problem—they just don’t ruin the game if there weren’t them. There are many valid reasons to smurf, too. I can’t play with my SE friend on my main account, so I need to switch to a smurf account for that. Plus, I’d like to have a warmup game if possible.
Many of us join the game because we don’t want our friends to fall behind. We create a sub account to match their rank so we can play together. Of course, it varies by player—some just enjoy casual play for a fair chance, while others try to push their friend’s rank up. This can actually hurt your friends since the gap between them and real ranks becomes huge. I know a friend who went from silver elite to mg1 without my help; whenever I watch his matches, he’s constantly being beaten. His true rank should be nova 1 or 2.
You mentioned it's not just about playing with silvers that helped you improve. It seems your experience is different from others who stick to silvers. Your friend's struggles don't stand out, and you find value in being in lobbies with smurfs for practice. There are plenty of good reasons to Smurf, like leveling up or getting a chance to learn. I've shared several of those reasons already, but you're still dismissing them because a smurf affected your rank in Nova 1.
