Hi everyone,
My role involves playing CSGO, watching demos, and coaching, but I’m frequently experiencing a drop in FPS. When I upgraded my PC last March, I was achieving over 300 FPS on 5v5 with 128 tick servers. Now I’m stuck between 180 and 230. I’m unsure what to do and would appreciate some advice before investing in a new CPU (the Ryzen 3700X looks promising).
I play at 1024x768 resolution, which is consistently low.

PC specifications:
- Windows 10 Pro
- RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2x 8GB 3200mhz
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1800X
- GPU: EVGA 1060 SC 6GB
- HDD: Samsung 850 Pro 250GB

What I’ve tried:
- Rolled back to a pre-Windows 1809 update (last stable CSGO version)
- Moved CSGO files from HDD to SSD
- Installed previous NVIDIA drivers
- Used launch options that caused issues, but tested with and without them to see FPS improvements: -novid +mat_queue_info 2 cl_forcepreload 1

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Same for me with my 8700k and RTX 2080. CSGO is a bit strange.

Turn off the in-game steam overlay
Achieve 300 FPS at 1440p ultra settings

fps_max was used previously to assist with performance, but its impact may be minimal now since I haven't played recently.
