Hey everyone, I own an i3 2120, GTX 1060, and 8GB RAM. About two weeks ago I had a GTX 650 Ti, and I mostly play CSGO. At high settings in 1080p, my average FPS was around 150. Even after upgrading to the GTX 1060, I’m still getting the same numbers. I know my i3 can be a bottleneck, but it doesn’t seem that bad. What’s going on? I’ve tried adjusting settings and still see no improvement.

The main issue seems to stem from a hardware limitation, likely in the same area. It would be useful to detail the remaining components.

Your i3 model causes significant slowdowns with GPUs such as the 1060 and 480.

I understand, but my friend is running i3 4130 with a GTX 660 and achieving over 200 FPS. I thought the gap between i3 2120 and i3 4130 wasn't that big.

i3 could become a limitation if it slows things down. Other titles like Witcher 3, Battlefield 4, and Fallout 4 would also struggle with low FPS. They’re actually running at high settings. Your setup includes: 1TB HDD spinning at 7200 RPM, Corsair power supply delivering up to 450 watts, and an ASRock H61M-V3 motherboard.

I don't think that's the case.

Your PSU is completely inadequate.
You’re facing a bottleneck since CS:GO demands significantly more CPU power than GPU.
You’re definitely stuck in those games, that’s for sure.

What you believe isn't important. The numbers show a different story. Ivy outperformed Sandy by 15%, and Haswell is an additional 10%. Including clock speed variations, the Haswell i3 offers roughly 30-40% more performance.

PSU is working well. Even with the bottleneck, I shouldn't be hitting the same frame rate. Try to grasp it. Other titles such as Witcher 3 would perform at around 10 fps on ultra settings with a GTX 650 Ti now, whereas it's currently running at 50 fps.
