I installed my initial gaming rig a few weeks back and have an MSI GTX 1070 GAMING X with an 8GB VRAM. I notice others using a 1060 getting high frame rates of 400 FPS or more at full settings. My performance is between 250 and 290 FPS. Is there anything incorrect with my GPU?

It seems you're asking about the display settings. What resolution are you currently using?

Don't stress, the issue won't matter unless your display can update quickly enough. As long as you're over 60, you should be okay.

My display has an ultra-wide setup with a 2560x1080 screen and operates at 75Hz.

Absolutely, that might make a difference. Children viewing at 1920x1080p tend to excel.

Did you make sure to cap your frame rate by setting it to zero?
