Hey, what do you think? I just earned enough to sell some items I got in drops. Right now I have a Phoenix Case and no skin—just a mediocre M4A1 Boreal Forest. What should I do with this money? - Use the key to unlock the crate and maybe get a Stattrak® 420YoloSwag Knife Fade or something better - Spend it on other things instead. I’m not risking any of my own money; if I get the key, I’d just use the cash I made from selling low-quality drops. Thanks!

The odds are very low, with a 1 in 2000 chance of encountering a knife. Most items are likely to be worth less than 20 cents, giving a 9 out of 10 probability.

I wouldn't. Keep it for a future Steam discount.

Keep the funds safe, the odds of acquiring a knife are very low—it’s foolish to attempt that. Instead, purchase a piece of skin you desire from the market.

Honestly, they don’t pay Volvo to hurt you. Just spend the cash elsewhere. Or consider moving up—I went from $1.10 to $2.

Never bother with opening crates. You're very likely to end up with a low-quality skin worth just a few dollars. On rare occasions you might get something better, around $0.50 to $1.00. Only occasionally do you actually unlock an item priced above the cost of the key itself. With enough cash, you can afford a decent collection, especially if you prioritize frequently used weapons like the AK M4 Glock USP/P2000. These will give you good-looking skins and possibly some extra pieces for other models. Skins for most weapons under $50 are available.

Avoid cracking crates recklessly; stop once you begin, and consider exchanging the key for other items or purchasing skins on the open market.

this wasnt working for me but here is a simulator ive toyed with to show you how much of a waste of money these cases are. http://convars.com/case/ You are pretty much going to save money just buying the thing you want outright rather then using case keys.
