I'm a mid-tier ranked player who recently created a smurf account. Noticing hackers online, I thought the VAC wave had kicked in months ago, so I expected fewer active hackers now. The numbers seem to have dropped, especially since Overwatch is no longer in beta and more players are watching reported matches. In reality, the number should be lower. My smurf just climbed up to MG2 after ten straight wins, and I've already started getting feedback from opponents during practice matches—even though I'm not actively playing. Some of these incidents seem based on luck, which raises the chance that others will falsely accuse players of hacking. In a similar situation in Dust2: I saw a character trying to steal the last T while saving, spotted him leaving midway through the tunnel, and only had two possible spots—top mid or tunnels. Since a teammate was already near the long doors, I assumed he could flank the T from top mid. I went to the tunnels, heard movement on my left headset, and figured he was at the top mid. I waited for him to be cornered before attacking. It ended with a waller until we secured the win. That's my take on it.
I really don’t come across any hackers, it’s odd. From Silver 3 to Legendary Eagle, all my games stayed safe and I only got smurfs.
I've been playing this game for nearly two years, starting from silver 1. I've encountered hackers a few times, mostly in MGE/DMG, but smurfs were more frequent. In MG1 and 2, my games were always packed with eagles and higher smurfs... it was tough to break in, but once I started playing as double AK, I never found another smurf again. Until yesterday, I was waiting solo on the main and we quickly won the pistol round. After that, we lost 14 straight rounds—final score 16-2. When the match ended, we noticed the top two players were boosted by their supreme alts, giving them extra eagles and an Eagle master. That was the worst game I've played in a long time.
