Crysis crashing on new PC
Hey everyone, I just finished setting up my first gaming PC last month by upgrading the graphics card. I already had a few games from Steam and some DVDs, but the first one I tried was the original Crysis to see just how impressive it would be. This sparked the popular 'Can it Run Crysis' jokes. I downloaded it from Steam, but it didn’t even open to the menu or any EA/Nvidia logos. When I click play, it shows a black screen for a second and then closes. I’ve tried running the executable in different window modes, but nothing works. My PC specs are: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit with Nov 2019 update, AMD Ryzen 5 2600 at stock speed, 2x8GB DDR4 RAM at 3200MHz, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 (TU-104), and a 240GB SSD. Other games are running smoothly, and I’m using the latest Nvidia Game driver. I also ran Blender benchmarks without issues. Just Crysis is refusing to load properly. Any help would be really appreciated!
Let me know, I'll check it out tomorrow. Using the latest Steam version should help resolve the problems. They're handling their own updates, so it's likely they'll fix it.
Valve typically doesn't interfere with games beyond ensuring they're available via Steam. If a game fails on certain systems, the responsibility falls on the developers. Crytek hasn't kept Crysis updated for over ten years, yet it remains mostly functional.
