Windows 10 64-bit 2004/20H2 faces a serious problem – the main process stopped unexpectedly. I’m unsure what details you require, so let me clarify. — I’m using my third SSD drive. My system is running Windows 10 20H2. I want to preserve another installation so I can restore it later. I have a spare SSD installed and am currently booting from that one. I need to back up my setup from the primary drive without re-installing everything, especially since my internet speed is only 25Mbps. I can’t boot into Safe Mode or reset the OS. Is there a way using CMD or PowerShell to save the installation? Or any other method to recover and run diagnostics like Malwarebytes?

I can explain what I’m confused about. The mention of a third SSD seems unclear since only one drive appears unresponsive and another is spare. The phrase “save my install from my main drive” isn’t clear either—it might refer to preserving your setup from the primary storage. If the unresponsive drive is damaged, it could be beyond repair. I’m unsure what exactly needs saving, which makes troubleshooting difficult. It likely depends on which system process failed and why. I suspect it’s probably not a simple fix. Do you have any data from this drive that you’d like to preserve? Are you trying to avoid downloading updates over a slow connection? Can you retrieve information about the drive after switching to another installation?

The issue involves multiple critical processes and several possible causes for its failure. For many of these reasons, the conclusion is no. Simply rebooting or switching to safe mode doesn't guarantee recovery, as it could indicate data loss or hardware problems—neither of which is positive.

Continuing to clone your installation will only repeat the same problem...
