At 144Hz, 1080p or 1440p won't stand out much... (including VR). In video editing, the 3900x is way better than the 10900k.

You mean explaining what you're referring to? If you're suggesting an original concept, you can always build your argument to OC the other elements as well. For example, people often ask why buy a 2080 when you could OC a 2070 and still get close. The issue is that you can also OC the 2080. The 3900x is much better for multi-threaded tasks, but for gaming, the 10900k is preferable if you can get it at a similar price.

There are numerous choices, but because of the motherboard shortage, prices have skyrocketed. An Asus ROG Strix X570-F is around $650... wow. But if you manage to get it for retail around $280–$290, it's a solid pick. It's a tier A board. The same goes for the Prime X570 PRO.
