This situation completely confuses me and I've never encountered it before. I'll do my best to clarify as much as possible. It began two days ago when I launched a Minecraft modded server. Together with my friend, we joined the game and everything functioned normally for about an hour. Suddenly, my Discord logged me out, the server crashed, and all internet functions stopped. In the bottom-right corner, the Ethernet icon changed to a globe with a blocked symbol. I assumed my ISP was causing the issue and didn't take much action—restarted my PC, and it worked again. Later, after about ten minutes, it happened once more. This time, since I used my smartphone and the Wi-Fi was perfect, my PC reported losing internet connection despite being online. I ran all standard troubleshooting steps: used the Windows error checker, toggled network adapter settings in Device Manager, but both methods failed. The device manager stopped responding immediately after any changes. My PC also began to malfunction; the Windows Ethernet control panel ceased functioning, which was unusual for me. After a restart, everything worked perfectly for hours. Recently, the same problem occurred again, but this time I noticed strange error codes. My friend logged out of the server and asked me on Discord what happened. I explained, and he replied, "Hello? You there, helloooo!" while I was actively using the microphone. Ten seconds later, I lost Discord access, but the sound persisted—repeating "plong pling" or "plong pling" ten times before stopping. Now the Ethernet connection is completely down again. What I don’t understand is that I heard my friend’s voice for a few seconds after he disconnected from the server, before I lost the internet connection. With all my technical knowledge, I’m unsure what to do next. I only changed one setting in my router—opened the port for Minecraft 25565. Since I own a high-end gaming router from Asus, I’m convinced something is wrong there. Restarting my PC resolved the internet issue, so I’m not sure what else to try. The event log shows no entries related to this problem. The DNS server is set to Auto, and I’ve updated the drivers. Any advice from anyone here would be greatly appreciated.

I’d avoid opening router ports. (It’s not the problem, just a security concern) If you discover a fix, I’d use a service like playit.gg to proxy your server. Significantly boosts security.

Are you sure a firewall is active on your machine? Do you have antivirus programs that come with a firewall feature? They might be restricting traffic automatically. This issue appears when the Minecraft server isn't running. If it doesn<|pad|>, changing the port from the standard setting to another one could help. If yes, try disabling your firewall temporarily and see if the problem persists.

I wonder if your internet service provider views the data as a "server" and assumes you're operating a business server from your home, leading them to block your activity.

I rarely open ports except when gaming, and I just recently stopped them for games I no longer play. I use the standard Windows firewall and only have Windows built-in antivirus. There are no blocking rules I’ve adjusted anywhere, not even before. I’ve hosted Valheim and Icarus recently, so this might have started after setting up a Minecraft server. I’m hoping your advice works for me now. It would be very unlikely, considering I live in Sweden and haven’t heard of ISPs doing this before.

This is typical in the US.

This would break access for his smart phone as well, as the ISP wouldn't know which device is which behind the firewall. My guess if you have hosted other servers without issue is that minecraft is the problem or the type of packets. Do you by chance have a 2.5gbit nic? There is a bug with some intel 2.5gbit network adapters..
