He decided to retain the 16gb of RAM, as prices are expected to fall, and the motherboard is already present in his current PC.
For the SSD, he intended to install a 1tb M.2 drive, but I couldn't locate it on the PCPartPicker list.
I have some experience with builds, so I'm familiar with the process, though I have a few questions.
He wanted to keep the motherboard installed, and he liked the NZXT H6 Flow, but the fans are RGB, so I'm uncertain about compatibility with the motherboard. Will I need an additional controller?
Which extra fans should I purchase for the top and rear? Affordable yet providing good performance, in white.
Ideally, all white upgrades should stay within a budget of $600 - $800 USD.
Please let me know if you have any tips or issues with the build. Thanks.
Change the case to this; https://pcpartpicker.com/product/KyqNnQ/...c-h31fb-01 The motherboard you've scoped out or is currently in the system is a bad candidate to pair with the Ryzen 7 5700x due tot he inadequate VRM deign on said motherboard. I would look at this board; https://pcpartpicker.com/product/6Q...at...r-max-wifi Here's my suggestion; PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X 3.4 GHz 8-Core Processor ($205.00 @ Amazon) CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro 110 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($84.49 @ Amazon) Motherboard: MSI MAG B550M MORTAR MAX WIFI Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($159.99 @ MSI - OOS) Video Card: Gigabyte GAMING OC Radeon RX 7600 XT 16 GB Video Card ($368.31) Case: NZXT H3 Flow MicroATX Mid Tower Case ($59.99 @ Amazon) Power Supply: MSI MAG A650GLS PCIE5 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($79.98 @ Amazon) Total: $957.76 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2025-12-24 23:20 EST-0500 but we'll need more info. What of your ram, SSD and perhaps additional storage? Users are advised to stylize thier threads with info asked of in this thread; *How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice* How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice First off, respect where respect is due - this is an adaptation of the Animal's *How To Ask For New Build Advice* Sticky. I created this because there's a lot of posts nowadays asking for upgrade advice both on here and on the CPU forums, and I feel... forums. which helps lend some context into your/your friend's predicaments and the community chimes in with worthwhile suggestions. You should also include what parts your friend currently has in case they are worth salvaging.
I owned the Asus Prime 450 MB for a while and began to notice my SATA HDD was quite slow. I kept using the same AMD 2700x 8 Core processor and upgraded the drive to the MSI B550 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI. I wish I had made that change sooner. It could be something he should consider. The NVMe SSD gave me a completely different experience, making everything run much faster. Even without spending on SSDs now, having that choice in the future would be helpful.

Sorry, I overlooked mentioning that he has 16gb and plans to retain it until prices fall, if they ever do, I’m not very familiar with the shortage situation.
I’m sorry, I’ll adjust the post as needed. Regarding the motherboard, he’s firm about keeping it, is there a more suitable CPU pairing that would maintain good performance, or should it be worth replacing it? For the SSD, he’s installing a 1 tb silicon power M.2 right now. He’s retaining the 16gb of RAM in his existing PC.
