Just for fun, I was curious about using a router or WiFi extender to create a personal network. I’m thinking about getting some software that lets me connect multiple computers and browse the internet through a single device. Would that work?

You can link computers together without connecting them to the internet and create your own servers. This is essentially what a LAN does, using a router to provide access to the outside world.

Sure, you can set up a network using the control panel on Windows. For configuring your router to handle wireless connections, you'll need appropriate software and settings—like accessing the router's admin interface, enabling WPA2 or another security protocol, and adjusting channel settings. Let me know if you need specific steps!

You only require an access point. A DHCP server simplifies things by enabling automatic IP assignment.

Are you referring to the Wi-Fi access point that boosts your router's signal range?

You’d need to accept that there’s no benefit, since your LAN already covers everything. Set up a web server on one of your computers and you’re done.
