I'm attempting to configure a Lenovo laptop without a Microsoft account. I discovered a guide online that outlines the process, but it seems to be ineffective. Did Microsoft somehow block this option? Perhaps using Windows 10 would be a better choice since I prefer it over Windows 11. I'm uncertain if that will simplify things. The post I used was:

You can achieve that, though it’s a bit challenging. Just set up an active Microsoft account, add an offline admin account, then if you’re using a PC, it will function offline without needing the previous live admin account. You can simply eliminate that one to stay with the offline version.

It's somewhat ambiguous whether you're using the Windows installer that came with Lenovo or an ISO file from Microsoft. Both necessitate creating an account, but the Lenovo installer may already include this requirement, potentially affecting whether bypassing it works.
Disabling the laptop's Wi-Fi becomes more challenging, as the installer might detect a likely internet connection and prompt you to sign in.

It is permissible under any EULA or Microsoft terms to use an unused retail version of Windows 11 without setting up a Microsoft account.

What makes you hesitant about using a "Microsoft account"? (just curious)
It doesn't need to be your regular account.
And it shouldn't resemble [email protected].

I recently purchased a new PC... running Windows 11 and not wanting to use a Microsoft account... The link you shared (and others have tried) worked for me, allowing me to set it up without one.
@USAFRet
after setting it up, I had to admit... I asked myself the same thing... why should I really bother? So many services now require login, and I’m not sure I need to worry about Microsoft (with all the options available turned off).
I checked the details and all the "benefits" didn’t seem worth it or interesting to me... except maybe having an account to safeguard my key in case I ever need to replace the motherboard or something else. But most of it just felt like fluff.
Do you have any strong reason to do it? Or would you prefer to set it up with an account and use a local one instead?

This is precisely how I handle all my Windows 10 and 11 devices.
The "ms account" exists but is seldom or never utilized.
Local Standard and Admin accounts are what really matter.
