Wow, it's been a while since I've been here. I had a child, got really busy with work, but now I'm back because it's time for a fresh build! My current system is from 2018 – i7 8700K and GTX 1080. I'm using a dual monitor setup with Rog Swift 27" at 1440p. I haven't decided yet if I should go up to 4k, but I want your thoughts.
Cost: between $3k and $4k (excluding monitors/peripherals unless it's worth the upgrade)

I have a microcenter about 5 hours away, so if I need to drive for a long time or visit IKEA for an update on my setup, it can be handled.
I play CoD, use OBS for recording and uploading videos. Other games include WoW, Monster Hunter, ARK Ascended (this is the main reason I need an upgrade – the game is rough with the GTX 1080), and Final Fantasy.
I also enjoy photography and use Lightroom. I need Bluetooth for my Elite 2 controller and would love to connect to my living room TV to stream movies or videos – I'm not sure what else I'll need.
Your budget allows for constructing two distinct PCs—one tailored for gaming and another designed for streaming with an Elgato capture card. This setup helps preserve high frame rates. If you're playing CoD, it's recommended to keep the resolution at 1440P to ensure a solid frame rate.

I'm not streaming in that way or feeling the urge to take that route. I just share them on my personal FB page, just random stuff the guys and I come across while playing. If I were a streamer or content creator, I'd definitely see the value in running two PCs. But for me, I'm fine with it. Plus, if I wanted to go that way, wouldn't I be able to use my current PC (i7 8700k & GTX 1080) as the "streaming" setup?
The 4080 Super comfortably accommodates a single 2k monitor.

Never considered upgrading to a 4090, particularly after accounting for all the additional fans and wiring.
Still haven't used an AMD processor in over a decade. How does it stack up against the i7 and even the new i9?
Discovered the HYTE Y70 case – it looks great but is quite pricey just for the case itself. Yet, for someone unfamiliar with screen modifications, it seems like a tempting option. I tend to prefer Corsair products.
If I were to try building a custom loop, what would the budget be?
Not trying to be too nosy, but if you are in Florida the nearest Microcenter to you is Marietta, GA. Even if you were right on the line to get there in five hours is worthy of a Bandit Run or Cannonball, lol.
IMO, unless you are in the market for a very generic out of the box solution, there is zero reason to spend time driving to MC. I actually hate to hear myself say that. They dropped the $20 off compatible motherboard on everything except very specific combinations of parts (particularly motherboards) of a level I am not looking at....and at this price neither are you. There is some savings to be had on CPU for sure. Without the combo deal their motherboard pricing and nearly everything else outside a "special" deal can be had with free delivery. Add time and gas and as far as I am concerned it would take something more exceptional than what they offer outside of needing it in hand within the day.

If the "In-Store" offers aren’t as appealing now, it makes sense that it might not be worth the trip anymore. I recall those deals being nearly $100 cheaper online for a combo on CPU/MOBO.

It looks like around $800+ USD for a watercooled setup. I expected it to cost more if I took this route, so I didn’t plan to buy the 4090. I’m still deciding whether to wait and compare the 4080 super’s performance on benchmarks before committing.

They, similar to Newegg, are now offering bundle deals. The prices look appealing, but the main issue is the weak selection of motherboards included with those offers. Back then, you could choose a compatible board yourself, which greatly improved both functionality and appearance.
In the ATL area, my nearest store in Marietta usually takes about two hours one way. Previously, I would visit there for almost any CPU/motherboard deal, but now I mostly check the Jungle site for pricing.
