Yes, that's the optimal situation. Make sure to safeguard all personal files and transfer them to a new storage device. Regularly backing up data is essential, as SSDs and hard disks can fail unexpectedly. You should be able to save game settings and possibly entire games by following these steps. I haven't done this personally, but others on Tom's might assist.

You can watch the guide here: https://www.techspot.com/article/1429-mo...e-library/

If you prefer a cautious approach and can afford a budget SSD, consider installing Windows in a test mode and moving your Steam games over without erasing the old drive. This way, any issues are contained to the previous drive, allowing you to retry.

Although it increases the upgrade cost, even a 500GB SSD (2.5" SATA or M.2) should suffice for transferring a single game. When experimenting with new or risky options—especially if you make a mistake—I use an extra drive rather than wiping the old one, to avoid losing everything.

Once you're sure of success, you can back up your game data, erase the old drive, and start fresh.

The main drawback of backing up entire games is that it may require several TBs of storage space on a spare drive, unless you want to re-download large amounts of data later.

You don't always need to back up the games. After installing the new OS, you can just direct Steam/Origin/Epic to the destination drive where the games are saved, and the apps will handle restoring them. These apps rely on online backup for save files, etc.

The 212 is a less effective cooler compared to the thermalright models I mentioned before. You can obtain a 240mm AIO from thermalright for the same cost as the 212. Did you expect RGB RAM? Please indicate which components you already bought in your list versus what you intend to purchase.

I thought RGB Ram was the right choice but I have to mature and become a man without unicorn colors.
😛
I haven’t closed yet—I think I should look for C30 and 6000 speed. I just found a motherboard and CPU on a site offering sales, which could save me about 80e so I can invest in other components. I’ll go with the cooler you mentioned. Can I ask something final? The MSI board has 2x8 CPU pins; should I connect both later, or is that for another purpose? I saw a YouTube video saying only one connection is needed.

I would link them together if your power supply supports both. I don't use rainbow colors in my RGB RAM; I switch to one color depending on my mood at that moment. lol

I might try RNG, but I have an extra CPU cable in the PSU box. I’ll check the manual inside to see how to connect.
To wrap up, thank you for the information and assistance—everything fits together nicely. CL 30 6000MHz and the cooler you mentioned. MSI 850 GMA Wi-Fi6 with Ryzen 9600X.
