Create a Windows XP virtual machine on your system.
I intend to use games on it that I can't otherwise play, avoiding the need for a Windows XP machine. I'm learning how to install everything, but my main concern is whether any program requires a legal Windows XP key to activate. I don't want to engage in anything illegal and am open to buying one if necessary. If I'm unfamiliar with Vboxes, please let me know.
It seems you're looking for a physical setup to run your older games. That could be the only legal option, or you might need to find another way to access them.
Consider looking for a Windows XP version that uses volume licensing or activation from company servers—activation tools exist. This isn't endorsing piracy, but it protects Microsoft since legal purchases are no longer straightforward. Another option is a Windows 2003 edition, which also offers volume licenses and should run XP games (since the 64-bit version includes the 2003 kernel).
I might know someone with an outdated WXP desktop. I'd like to check if they're willing to upgrade it. Appreciate your help!
Yes, you can still proceed. Let me know how to get the actual key. You should be able to complete the process via the phone call.
