WSL isn't great and tends to be unreliable compared to a full VM. You'd likely need to run a Linux VM without a GUI, connect via PuTTY with X forwarding, and use tools like xming. This setup would perform much better than the WSL version that barely runs Firefox after messing with X forwarding.
For anything without a GUI, it performs exceptionally well. It operates directly on your system's resources, using only what you need and retaining access until the session ends.
