Trepang2 boasts a quirky title that stands out, with "Trepang" being an amusing choice. It offers two versions despite no previous Trepang1, and its developers clearly aimed for a tense experience. If you enjoy suspense, this might be the one to engage you. In 2023, many players can test demo titles before committing to full purchases. I’ve only played the demo so far, but it’s impressive in presentation, sound design, and gunplay. The visuals and audio are top-notch, making each shootout feel dynamic. I’ve seen some non-human entities in trailers, though they haven’t appeared yet in the demo. Overall, it’s a solid entry in the genre and offers fair pricing at 30€ compared to other recent releases. Have you had a chance to try it?

If it's a horror game, it could relate to trepanation—a grim ancient procedure involving drilling holes in the skull.

It seems you're referencing a scenario involving manipulation and control. Could you clarify what you mean? I'm here to help with any questions or discussions you have.

Back in the 60s, the reasons for trepanation weren’t clear. A story circulated that it could grant a lasting euphoria, and one character in the show “Dead Like Me” reportedly ended his life by attempting it with a power drill.

I've wrapped up the demo and it's a bit uneven. Gunfights feel really good, no problems there, but the pacing bothers me a little. If they'd kept the secret vibe and added challenges like escaping and facing strange encounters, it would have been much better. Instead, they turned it into a more open format with a base later on and missions from there. I hope the story grows nicely this way, but I'm not sure how or what will happen...

I've wrapped up the demo and it feels a bit uneven. If they had maintained the secret complex theme and you had to flee while facing strange encounters, it would have been much better. Instead, they chose a "open" game style where you start with a central base and then go on missions from there. I hope the story develops nicely this way, but I’m not sure how or what changes would work. I tend to like a more intense "FEAR" progression.

Chose to purchase it and try it out. It exceeded expectations. Right now I'm in the second mission at Pandora Institute, and this game delivers a full F.E.A.R. experience. Even its engine, which appears to be built in-house, shares the same issues as the one used in FEAR back then. Scenes from outside—such as helicopter shots—feel quite melancholic, reminiscent of 2005, but once inside the environment it transforms into something stunning. The lighting is exceptional, reflections are everywhere, the particle effects are impressive, shadows are well rendered, and what I value most is that the player feels like a real physical presence, with visible body movements and strong light sources casting detailed shadows. Occasionally my own shadow might unsettle me. One drawback is the soundtrack. While the music is solid and intense during gunfights, I prefer hearing enemy chatter and footsteps instead. I have to weigh those two options. Personally, I went with no music. Considering how many mediocre titles were released this year, this one is a refreshing change—especially since it comes from an entirely new studio with no prior reputation. There are a few minor UI issues, but overall it feels very refined, high-budget, and not the cheap indie feel I expected. The enemy AI stands out; they’re sharp, precise, and always looking to flank or follow noise. Ultimately, they don’t come across as overly robotic or simplistic like many games in the CoD and Battlefield series.
