I changed my laptop's HDD to an SSD and am planning a new PC. I’m wondering if I can move Windows 10 again onto another SSD for future use. I currently have Windows 8.1 Pro with a free license from school, and I’m considering using it for my laptop. Is it possible to migrate Windows 10 a second time onto another SSD?
Maybe so, but you'd be transferring all your settings, data, and more from your current laptop to a new one. I suggest beginning with a fresh start instead.
You should perform a fresh installation of the operating system prior to moving it.
If you want to move, you won't need to reinstall. The update transfers everything to the SSD. Plus: All your data stays intact. On the downside, any extra files remain on the old HDD. If you start fresh, just do it on the SSD and don’t worry about the old drive.
