Create a backup of your Windows system.
My windows back up to my second drive in my computer takes a very long time. It's a technical process. Despite scheduling it every Sunday at 7, it still requires about three hours. I wonder why it's so slow compared to manually transferring the data. If I just zipped and moved it myself, it would be faster.
It varies based on the backup tools, compression methods, and the data being saved. Certain third-party solutions offer more advanced compression than simple zipping. The type of data you're backing up also matters—some programs automatically create system snapshots along with files. In my view, creating a custom script or program to compress specific folders before transfer is ideal, or switching to a different backup solution that suits your needs.
I'm working with the standard program included with Windows 10... actually, it's more like Windows 7.
The backup indicates it's saving a complete system snapshot. It lists libraries, personal folders, selected folders, and the system image itself. Keep in mind a full system image can be time-consuming to create and requires significant storage space. If speed is important, consider excluding those items from the backup.
