Crash on 7900xtxSapphire Nitro+RX 7900 XTX black monitor
Hey there! I just set up a brand new PC and everything seemed fine until I updated the latest Adrenalin driver. I checked the temperatures, and they stayed under 60°C during normal use. The main issue is that the computer crashes unexpectedly, showing a black screen or shutting down completely. It often happens without any load, and sometimes it forces a BIOS reset and GPU removal just to get the screen back. My setup includes Windows 11, an i9 13900k with Sapphire nitro, a Corsair RM1000x PSU, MSI z790-a with Corsair vengeance DDR5 6000 MHz, a Samsung 980 Pro 2TB NVMe M.2 drive, and an air cooler from Noctua. I’ve used three PCIe 8pin cables securely attached to the GPU, and I’ve tried different driver versions (23.9.1, 23.8.2) without overclocking. The PSU isn’t plugged directly into the wall but into a hub—have you checked that connection too? Let me know if this helps!
It might vary depending on your configuration. Set all BIOS settings to factory defaults and use auto memory speeds without XMP enabled. Ensure the CSM is turned off (it should be off if Secure Boot is active). Verify fast boot status in BIOS and Windows—disable it if needed. In Power Settings, confirm consistency. Under Windows settings, Adrenalin should behave normally. If BIOS disables it but Windows activates, Adrenalin may crash. Download DDU, start in safe mode, and follow the prompts. I'm sure the GPU has an issue. I checked everything I could find online and in forums, but nothing helped. Once I installed the adrenalin driver, the system became unstable right away. This occurred on a brand new Windows installation after a CMOS reset. I borrowed a 6800 XT, and it functioned perfectly on that machine with identical settings.
Good afternoon, your issue sounds similar. Have you tried optimizing the graphics settings or checking for driver updates on your Sapphire Nitro+ 7900 XTX?
