Crash due to access violation in multiple games
The device specifications are as follows: GPU – NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 12GB, CPU – AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-core, RAM – 8GBX4 DDR4 G SKILL at 3600MHz, XMP setting 1.35V, clock speed 1801.8MHz, timing values 18-22-22-42, MOBO – MPG X570 GAMINGPLUS, storage – Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB and Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB (OS).
I’ve faced repeated crashes in several AAA titles since installing the new RTX 3080 a few months ago. A similar issue occurred while playing Deathloop intermittently. After extensive research and numerous attempts, I was unable to resolve it. To avoid losing progress, I would restart every 10 minutes during crashes, but now I’m only able to play less demanding games like Overwatch 2 occasionally. Recently, I started working on Death Stranding and encountered the same Access Violation crash issue. A screenshot of the crash dialogue is attached.
I’m generally capable of troubleshooting these problems, but I’m currently stuck. The suggested fixes from search engines have failed, and I’m seeking assistance to fix this. I’m not comfortable enduring random crashes while trying to complete a high-quality game.
the image indicates your GPU failed - device removed/access violation
update your drivers, then install a fresh one
ensure the GPU is correctly positioned in the PCIe slot, also verify that the PCIe power cables are properly connected, and consider using separate power cables instead of daisy chained ones
attempt to run the game with default BIOS settings (clear CMOS)

Yeahh. I thought swapping it out might be necessary, was really hoping there was another solution.

After putting the GPU back in and resetting the CMOS, the game runs smoothly without any crashes, thank you very much. I had a feeling the GPU wasn't seated correctly, but didn’t want to accept that.
