I kid you not, I swapped out one cpu in my laptop from an i5 to an i7 and task manager became livid and said no, you're stuck with an i5. Here is proof attached as I write this.

Remove all device managers, then instruct it to look for fresh hardware. In MSCoFIG, leave the number of processors unchecked. Click OK and restart the system.
