Hi,
My CPU seems only two days old. I've noticed today it didn't work the fan. In BIOS I saw it reaching 99-100°C. I fixed the fan problem, but isn't there a perf-unit that shuts down the CPU when overheating? Why didn't it shut down when I was using Windows and browsing the internet? I expected it to stop in such a situation (no fan), but I'm writing this with the same computer. Anyone know?

CPUs don't die instantly. Even when the fan wasn't running, the heatsink continued to lower the temperature—though not as quickly as when the fan was active.

The CPU will initially reduce its speed and performance when overheating. Your computer likely ran very slowly before the issue was resolved.
