You can obtain them for around $5 or less without needing a strict legal license. They aren’t officially sold, but they’re genuine Microsoft products. You won’t have to activate Windows, though you might miss some personalization options like wallpaper changes and UI tweaks.

I attempted that, but it was rejected since the version on my PC is an Education edition of Windows 10, meaning the home key won't work. I think I need to reinstall Windows Home or Pro and then activate using a valid key.

You’d need to reinstall Windows. You can obtain the Win10 ISO directly from Microsoft and create a bootable USB drive. Enderman shared a link for this process.
