CPU usage for Death Stranding reached maximum capacity.
I played this game on Win10 before and didn’t notice any CPU issues, but after switching to Windows 11 my processor stays at full capacity constantly. It’s unusual that it doesn’t heat up much during tasks like compiling code. With your specs—1080p ultra, i9-10900f, RX 7900 XTX and two 2400MHz RAM sticks—can your memory be limiting performance? Even with plenty of RAM, the CPU usage spikes significantly.
You might face performance restrictions because you're using the non-K variant. What power consumption is your CPU using during gameplay? It's best to raise the limit temporarily to see if you hit a cap. You can adjust this via Intel XTU. While your RAM is slower than 10th generation specs, it shouldn't cause full CPU utilization. If your CPU isn't generating much heat, that usually means you're being throttled due to power constraints, as non-K chips from Intel have significantly lower PL2 compared to K models.
Also, when I compile, I'm using the same CPU, so I don't think I'm limited by power. My CPU draws about 130-145 watts during boost mode. While playing Death Straned it's drawing around 89 watts, I'm planning to try the Intel i9.
I believe the methods for determining CPU usage are incorrect. Your game might be triggering wait operations on half of your CPU cores, making it appear fully utilized. This can happen even when the actual usage is identical. Have a great day!
