CPU upgrade help
I’ve recently enhanced my PC with a new GPU and power supply. My current setup is still limited by my CPU, which is the main bottleneck for most games. I’m evaluating upgrades like moving to a Ryzen 5 3600, switching to an MSI B450 Tomahawk Max motherboard, and adding 16GB of DDR4 3200mhz RAM. For 1440p gaming, I’m wondering if these changes will noticeably improve performance. I want to make sure my investment makes sense, especially if the gains are modest.
I wouldn't suggest moving to a new platform right now. The 4820k should handle everything for now. Wait for Zen 3—it reduces CPU strain, so you won't see a noticeable slowdown compared to 1080p.
Within the games, your CPU usage tends to hover near 90% while the GPU stays around high to mid 80%. You often see performance drops in titles like GTAV where you’re aiming for around 40fps, and you’re hoping to improve that. Right now you’re using a 4820k at 4.4ghz. As someone new to overclocking, you might find it helpful with some practice to push it further, but it seems like you’ve reached your limits.
