Cpu Underutilization
Cpu Underutilization
I just got GTA V from epic on my laptop and it has trouble keeping above 30 fps in 1080p. The pirated version I had before performed much better, staying at 35-40 fps all the time. While gaming, when the GPU is heavily used (as it usually is), the CPU swings between 30 and 45, even dropping to 20 and occasionally reaching 60%.
I've tried all the standard solutions, but I need your help.
Thanks
The original game needs to communicate with the server and perform frequent file checks to ensure it's genuine. This process can consume resources and slow down performance. However, GTA V and Windows are constantly receiving updates, which may affect performance differently each time they are applied. Additionally, previous settings might have optimized for higher frame rates.
while the GPU is operating at 99% capacity (as expected in any game)
This isn't consistently accurate and often isn't the case... but it tends to happen more frequently with an MX250 that has faster GPUs.
It seems quite likely you're observing something typical.
You're pushing the GPU to its limit...the CPU doesn't need to be at full capacity either.
I believe the GPU is actually restricting your FPS, not the CPU.
It would make sense but previously I was able to enjoy the same game easily... Could there really be a distinction in how the pirated and original versions perform? Shouldn't a bought game be more efficiently optimized and run more smoothly compared to the pirated one?
I don’t understand that at all...
But here’s an example for you.
I own an RTX 2080 Ti. I mainly use it for 4K games. In most intense titles the GPU stays close to full capacity, while my CPU works between 10 and 40%. This seems to match what you’re experiencing.
Also... I’m reading here>>>

that a 750 Ti provides around 33 fps at 1080p ultra in GTA V.
And I’m also seeing that a 750 Ti outperforms the MX250

Well i play with 1080p normal thats why i got easy 30- 35+. Here's a gameplay on high settings-

I think it is a GTA V problem cause i just tried far cry 3 at 60-50 fps and the cpu was constantly above 45 mark.
Anyways i was thinking of reinstalling the pirated version on the same pc to check the performance. Can i do that? I mean i wouldn't get banned by Rockstar if i keep my internet off will I?
