acquired a used LGA CPU that, when placed on a motherboard, leads to one RAM slot failing to recognize the memory. despite using identical CPUs and fully occupying all slots, the issue persists. investigate possible causes such as incorrect BIOS settings, faulty RAM modules, or hardware incompatibility.

Need additional details? A picture of the CPU on the contact side would be helpful.

Reviewed every contact—everyone looks great and polished, nothing is missing, especially no SMD parts, and there are only minor dents at the two corners.

Use 99% isopropyl alcohol to clean the CPU pads, then dry with a lint-free cloth.

Determine if the device uses PGA pins inside the CPU or LGA pins in the socket.

I faced a similar problem too; the RAM voltage wasn’t correct, so I enabled an XMP profile. Only after booting into BIOS and setting it to stock did everything function properly without unexpected voltages. If this helps, I’m not entirely sure. But I recommend checking the RAM specs first—maybe the numbers are off. For me, a slot with |1|1|1|0| worked perfectly, then I set up XMP and it all came together nicely. After that, all four slots were functional. Just reset the BIOS to confirm everything is stable.

It's likely the CPU issue, as I experienced similar problems with a used one having dents. Some RAM slots wouldn't recognize the RAM, and it kept happening.

I processed it using ISO 99% standard but I’m certain the dents in the CPU corners are causing this issue, similar to what happened when I purchased a CPU with imperfections. The RAM slots aren’t recognizing any memory, and this occurred on a brand-new motherboard.
