I had a 6300 on a very basic motherboard and faced similar issues after overclocking above 4.4 Ghz.
Consider getting a kit of MOSFET heatsinks and attaching them, or use thermal double-sided tape. Place a fan blowing over the VRM area to help cool it. This improved performance significantly, though it still worked under heavy load during stress tests.
