CPU Throttling?
CPU Throttling?
Hey everyone, just started reviewing the situation again. I downloaded some benchmark and monitoring tools and decided to run a baseline test without making any changes. I began with OCCT and completed its test; within roughly two minutes I suspect my CPU might be throttling. I checked HWinfo to pinpoint the issue, but I’m not sure how to interpret the results and nothing appears to be showing up. Could anyone assist me in understanding what’s happening?
Here’s the build info:
AMD FX-8350 4 GHz 8-Core Processor
Pure Rock 51.7 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Gigabyte GA-970-Gaming SLI ATX AM3+/AM3 Motherboard
Patriot Viper 3 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR3-1600 CL9 Memory
Seagate Barracuda 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 8 GB GAMING Video Card
Thermaltake Versa H21 ATX Mid Tower Case
Corsair CXM 600 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply
LG 27GL650F-B 27.0" 1920x1080 144 Hz Monitor
AMD states that the highest temperature reached by the processor is 61°C, which triggers a thermal throttling situation.
It's difficult to gauge accurately without observing any temperature data. At most, I can only note occasional issues with Core 0.
I completed another test and shared a new photo. The temperature shows a consistent rise up to 63°C, then it seems to cap around that point, followed by a slight drop before returning to the same pattern as the clock's downspikes. The side measurements from CoreTemp using TJmax indicate a range of about 17-21°C, staying near 18°C before dropping slightly to 17°C and then rising back to 21°C.
Your configuration clearly struggles to manage the maximum load due to insufficient cooling. That's correct. Just replacing the thermal paste didn't resolve the issue since it came from Amazon.
