I recently got all the components except my case and chose to assemble my new PC on the MOBO box just to test everything. After entering the BIOS, resetting the date and confirming detection, I noticed my CPU was at 35°C. This temperature is within an acceptable range for BIOS mode. I’m curious about how suitable this is. Since I don’t have Windows installed, I can’t get detailed thermal data. I’m running a Ryzen 5 3600 at stock speeds with the stock Wraith Stealth cooler (stock thermal paste). How impressive is 35°C under load? Any opinions would be great!

CPU typically operates about 10 degrees higher than room temperature when not in use.

That’s 95°F in BIOS—it’s usually better to stay around 70-80°F. The stock cooler works fine even with thermal paste.

Playing games on your PC will cause the temperature to rise significantly, which can harm your CPU. I suggest using better thermal paste or a high-quality cooler.

CPU temperatures vary between brands and models, making it tricky to find a universal ideal range. However, computers function optimally when they stay cool. Keeping the CPU temperature within comfortable limits ensures smooth performance. A good way to verify this is by checking the room temperature; maintaining around 22 to 24°C (71-75°F) is typical for healthy CPU operation. If the machine runs about 10°C above that ambient level, it remains safe and efficient.

The 3600 works well with the stock cooler when you skip over the OC.

Expect higher temps when using a cooler with the same cooler. For instance, with the Noctua NH-D15, idle and load will likely run warmer than usual.

Idle speed ranges from 30c to 35c, varying based on your environment. With your OC, it mainly hinges on your voltage settings. Full CPU load could hit around 80c under specific conditions, but that’s not typical operation and Cinebench doesn’t capture it well. During games, you’d likely see about 55% average usage when temperatures are between 70c and 75c.
