Software issues are occurring. All sensors seem faulty according to @ShrimpBrime. Everything looks okay.

Agreed. But if the socket was that hot, the cores would be smoking as well. Not a major issue. He’s past 103°C. The shutdown temp isn’t quite reached. I’d think he’d already had that experience from the quick screenshot. Also yes, the readings are based on margin calculated by the algorithm—time and therms involved. You know the last temperature you checked was just over a second ago, and the one you saw now is only a second old. Edited August 22, 2020 by ShrimpBrime Additional comment.

The information about the CPU temperature on the motherboard side is displayed on the IHS plate. The heat sink base should match this reading. Try using a thermal spray gun to test it.

Appreciate your feedback. So far my PC hasn’t crashed, which is great. I checked the core temp and it matches the expected range. After a 20-minute stress test, temperatures stayed between 47-50°C. When I used the thermal gun, they dropped to 40-45°C. It looks like the readings from HWMonitor and HWInfo64 are reliable. I also checked the heatsink directly—it’s warm but not excessively hot. This thread is really helpful; thanks for sharing your experience!

It's not overclocked, but I'm assuming the sensors aren't working properly. I really want accurate temperature readings from the CPU, but it's not affecting performance, so I think I'm fine. Lol
