CPU temperatures for Ryzen 7 3700X during use
Hey everyone, I'm still figuring things out about my CPU after the upgrade. Before, my idle temps were around 40-50°C and gaming hit 60-70°C. Now with the Ryzen 3700X, idle temps are 50-60°C and gaming reaches 70-80°C. It seems normal for this spec—my setup looks good based on Cinebench scores staying stable.
Based on my observations, since the die is smaller, the heat becomes more focused, making it tougher to dissipate.
I was a bit concerned about the possibility of reducing the CPU's lifespan due to high temperatures.
It looks like everything seems to be within normal limits. With such a high-performance unit, it should operate more efficiently during idle. Could you tell me what case you're using and whether the AIO is securely installed? Also, take a look at this video—it explains how proper orientation affects performance.
It won't shut down when it gets too warm, but that happens only above 100°C
Your radiator positioned at the front could cause higher temperatures because the case has limited ventilation space. This might slow down the movement of hot air in and out, reducing its impact. You can improve this by placing the radiator on top of your case. I’m sure this will help lower your CPU temperatures. There’s also a risk of air bubbles forming at the top where the tubes connect—this could cause noise rather than heat efficiency. If you prefer not to mount it at the top, flipping the case so the tubes face down might be better. (This mainly affects noise more than heat.) If you haven’t done this before, I’d recommend setting the front and top as intakes, the back as exhaust. More intakes than exhaust is preferable, though that’s just a preference. You don’t need to change anything if your temperatures are still normal—just adjust as needed. Go ahead with your setup!**
