CPU temperatures are very high following the optimization (i5 6600k).
I used this tutorial to boost my i5 6600k's performance:

During Prime95 stress tests, my core reached over 100°C! Seeing such high temperatures made me pause the test and reset the voltage back to the default (1.200v), while also reducing the overclock to 4.4Ghz. Even then, the temperature stayed above 100°C during stress testing. When I played Overwatch, the temperature dropped to about 85°C. I'm trying to gather more details below to better understand what's happening.
My system specs:
- Intel Core i5-6600k
- Cooler Master Hyper 212 LED cooler
- Asus Z170 Pro Gaming case
- Crucial 16GB DDR4-2400 RAM
- GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card
- 240GB SSD with Intel 240GB SSD 5 drive
- Western Digital 1TB HDD
- EVGA SuperNOVA 650W power supply
- Temperatures before overclock:
- Idle: around 26°C
- In-game (Overwatch): around 65°C
- Temperatures after overclock:
- Idle: around 33°C
- In-game (Overwatch): around 85°C
(No stress test run before the overclock)
When operating at 65°C with no overclocking, cooling problems are likely. Replace your CPU cooler.
verify your cooler's fan speed and reapply thermal paste.
if problems persist, consider upgrading your cooler.
Animesh786 :
check you cooler fan speed and reapply thermal paste.
if there is still an issue upgrade your cooler
that's what I was thinking but I don't have anymore of the thermal paste that came with the cooler and have no idea where to get it. Also i'm afraid of breaking my PC when trying to reseat my cooler because my cooler is the only thing I was having problems installing when I initially built it.

make sure your fan speed is correct and reapply thermal paste.
if the problem persists, consider upgrading your cooler.
i don’t have the original thermal paste anymore and don’t know where to buy it.
i’m worried about damaging my PC while trying to reinstall the cooler, since it was the only component that caused issues during setup.
thermal paste can be found on sites like amazon or ebay.
if installing a CPU cooler is tough, take out the motherboard and RAM, don’t push anything.
