The temps you're seeing are typical for an i5 3550 under load. With the stock cooler, maintaining 70-78°C at 90-100% load is generally normal. If it consistently stays within this range, your current setup should work well. Consider upgrading only if you notice overheating issues or performance drops.

I previously had identical CPU and temperatures matching yours. I swapped in a budget EVO hyper T4 cooler, and the temperature stayed under 70°C. Updated to an easy 4.1Ghz configuration.

It's an older model, but the Cooler Master Blizzard T2 is still reliable. It's budget-friendly and works well for basic cooling needs.
