I'm not sure. I was also considering other background applications.
The main concern is likely related to cooling performance. Even minor temperature problems can lead to this issue. I noticed a video showing one bvideo card among three partially blocked by dust. Shifting it slightly away from the fan resolved the problem, indicating insufficient airflow. It seems uneven cooling was the cause—likely because the component overheated without proper monitoring. Check if other cards near the graphics card are affected and whether they can be relocated more easily.
Firstly I just want to say, Don't let this stress you out. I've already gone through this with my system replacing my CPU, Motherboard, RAM, Case, and GPU. Regardless of what happens, It's going to end okay. I do believe this is a true statement, Now you said it happens in Minecraft, which is a very CPU intensive game if it's java. It uses the CPU to load/unload the game chunks. I'm not sure about fortnite for CPU, but I still definitely don't think this is normal. Can you run some benchmarks for us in Fortnite, Minecraft, and another game of your choice then reporting the results back here to us? That can help us narrow down the problem. Best of luck, Farmboy.
Reviewing temperatures could help too. There are tools that plot different temperature sensors. Windows may also handle this.
I don't believe it is a temp issue. I don't run games on high settings, and I don't run any background apps. I run everything on the lowest possible setting because I want to get the most FPS possible while also capping the FPS to where it is reasonable, like 120 FPS. My case is open-air, so it gets all the cooling it needs. Room temp is around 70F. Temps never go above 65C on GPU, my 3900x will reach mid 70C when running Cinebench R23. Temps are well within, even below, safety. I would agree that temps would be an issue, but I would know it not to be since I don't run excruciating tasks or run high settings in the games I play. I can for sure get some recordings of a few games to give a better idea.
I reviewed the video and it seems generally fine. A 10 fps reduction during loading is typical for me. The more noticeable drop while playing can be mitigated. If you aim for a 130 fps setting, the frame loss would still occur but would be limited to around 117-122 frames. That should help. I might be mistaken, so please let me know if this is correct.
It's unusual when I was using an AMD A-Series APU with a GTX 970 and an HDD. Watching the video at 4:30 would clearly show something out of the ordinary. Minecraft often spikes in performance, especially at low settings, but the frame times still jump unpredictably. Reducing FPS doesn't help much either. I'm okay with loading times, but competitive games like Fortnite or multiplayer titles such as Minecraft with Skywars or Bedwars can be really frustrating. The problem isn't just low FPS—it's those tiny delays that cause stuttering and interruptions. I'm working with others to figure out what's causing this issue.
