an overclocked 10600k will significantly minimize bottlenecks, while the recent price drop on 10700k models makes them less appealing. given the high cost of Z690 boards, a 8700k or 9900k setup seems like a smart alternative.

Unless you favor Intel's perspective, Zen 3 should extract the final performance from a 3080 over a 10.7GHz core, I’d hold onto the 7700K until benchmarks arrive.

they’re probably limited like many GPU drops—prices still above MSRP for the 10600ks and 10900ks. Intel isn’t a bad bet right now. It’ll be fun to compare performance as you notice fewer cores at each mid-range level (5600x vs 10700k/9900k, 5800x vs 10850k/10900k).
