Hello everyone, I just switched my setup from an i7-4790k to a Ryzen 5600X. I'm not sure if this is typical since I'm new to Ryzen processors, but my CPU is running at about 4 to 4.5GHz in both BIOS and Windows. Could anyone confirm if this is normal? Also, regarding the used i7-4790k price, I've noticed it's usually between $150 and $200 CAD lately.
The used market can feel unusual because prices often seem overly optimistic or aggressively low on the seller side. Some 10th generation chips are available for under $200 CAD, and even older models like 8th or 9th generation remain superior to 4th generation, particularly since they won’t get official Windows 11 support. At this point, it’s almost worthless. Prices between $150 and $200 are clearly excessive.
Reading idle speed can vary and may not always reflect reality. On my 5600X, Task Manager usually displays around 4 GHz during idle. In Ryzen Master, each core is in sleep mode with only one active at about 300 MHz.
You notice it operates efficiently within a temperature window of 4600 to 4850 degrees.
